A shimmer of a love story in the midst of the shadows of glamour within South Africa's global luxury and high jewellery industry

The Diamond Parure is a collection of three contemporary novels following the story of university sweethearts Randlord descendant and diamond conglomerate heir, Andre Dormehl and the daughter of a media mogul, fashion model Nonala Ndlovu. Inspired by personal experience and Nona Zuri's background in the fashion industry, particulary luxury goods, this collection contrasts the youthful nostalgia of the early 2010s with the weight of present adult duties, the towering ambition of life in the city and South Africa's old money neighbourhoods.

  • Trust Is For Silly Girls

This cover represents rose gold. Rose gold was a popular jewellery choice in 2012 when the characters met and it's an ode to that era but also indicative of their journey through identity as they cement where they fit in elite society.

  • Diamonds For Dinner

Representing white gold, a symbol of particular social acceptance in communities that believe that wealth is quiet, the cover suggests the characters progression in a particular direction.

  • Shadows of Glamour

The final installment cover represents yellow gold. Yellow gold is thought to be "original gold" particularly in Africa and it suggests the characters progression in a particular direction as their meandering through the systems that be comes to an earth shattering close.

How it begins

The first novel begins with an exchange in a dimly lit restaurant on the edge of the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront marina.

Nonala Ndlovu, a Cape Town based fashion model sits opposite Andre Dormehl, a Sandton based investment banker who also happens to be the heir to a high jewellery and diamond sales conglomerate thanks to a Randlord ancestor that established his family's place in the South African economic landscape in the 1800s. Until a day ago, the two hadn't seen each other in seven years. Surrounded by opulence in the warm haze of the mother city in early March, one of them lays a beguiling proposition on the table.
