Duality takes form in literature designed to stimulate the mind with sharp cornered wit certain to illuminate every future stride made by literati that choose to peruse the soft, uncoated, thoughtfully decorated pages of Nona Zuri, contemporary novelist.

Leaning on philosophies of how even light casts shadows, Nona explores the realities of becoming in the midst of ambitious pursuit.

BA Psychology and Sociology alumna from the University of Johannesburg, Nona Zuri has been a creative entrepreneur for the past 15 years. Her innovative path is illuminated by her vision to conduct business that is intentional about impact.

Nona has demonstrated this from empowering countryside fashion and lifestyle brands with online storytelling services, lending her writing to the imperative conversation around sustainability in luxury, to upholding artisanal practices in the production of books at Zuri Manor House to foster close relationships with the natural environment and local partnerships that empower the community.

Nona launched her literary career as a novelist in 2023, alongside Zuri Manor House, and has since developed a body of research that highlights the cognitive benefits of reading fiction, developed impactful creative partnerships and published her debut title, Trust Is For Silly Girls.

Signs of scintillating influence

The journey of the jewel is something that resonates with the Durban born, Pretoria partly-raised, Johannesburg educated & Cape Town based author so much she's built herself towards writing in luxury first as a freelance online media consultant for designer brands in Midlands, KZN to writing content for a luxury resale outlet to where she finds herself now - crafting literature inspired by the journey of the jewel and ironically, society's current relationship with diamonds.

"The saying 'diamonds are made under pressure' never quite left me - it was heinously overused by mentors during my adolescence and it stuck not only in terms of resilience but of severe ambition; intense and natural.

In my experience, the sting of pursuit according to self-valuation has always proven more bearable than the awful weight of settling. My writing reflects much of that philosophy alongside what I have witnessed in peers through the psycho-sociological perspective I academically hail from and the luxury goods and jewellery industry that faithfully shaped me into the woman and writer I am today."

The Diamond Parure
